The subject of today’s prompt is: “something that keeps me up at night”. Currently it’s RWAs(right wing authoritans). Authoritarian, is the politically correct way of addressing assholes. Which is basically corporatism while hiding behind nostaligia of an imagined past. The people who advocate for this system, are in positions where they dicatate the power and destiny of others through violent coercion. As a Black person, I’ve been on the receiving end of the policies that enable my continued subjugation.This world view can be further distilled down into “what are you going to do about it?”
Who are they?
Characteristics of RWAs include myriad of contradictions that reinforce a of childishly simplistic view existence. They don’t think about anything outside of their immediate knowledge base or predjuices.They are painfully obtuse and unaware that their social standing is artificial. Simply put, people who grow up thinking their hot shit because they look like the privileged group.These delusions of superiority stems from “what” they believe they are. Authoritarianism gives the lowest member a sense of belonging and self-esteem, however false it may appear. They are not capable of gaining by their own merit or talents but authoritarianism provides them a negative identity.
Why they do it
They won’t develop the traits needed to become an individual. They’re the type of people who are all talk. Their membership as part of the dominant group is accidental. It feeds the delusion that they are better than outsiders.These are people’s who’s place is no longer guranteed in a globalized world. They are those who’s family members received opportunity through nepotism. Unconciously, they are aware that the life they have is not one they have made.Yet to admit that would casue destructive cognitive dissonance. A dissonance that leads to violence.
What’s worse, they will kill to maintain this illusionary superiority. The world witnessed that last week when these terrorist stormed the capitol buildings to overthrow the will of the American people.There is no freedom in the life they want, just agency and no accountability.
These are a broken, abusive people who want compliant victims.
Authoritarianism and social dominance is the projection of the collective inferiority complex of a culture. People suffer becuase authoritrians are socialized to give up their potential to fit a definition “they” are assigned. Not one that “they” build but are “allowed”.In return for this loyalty, they are offered freedom from consequences.Or at least it is implied by the status quo.
Tolerating these delusions always results in loss of life. Yet I am somewhat hopeful. History and current events shows that these movements and its’ supporters always collapse inwards. Eventually, these people turn on themselves because they won’t think critically. Only when they start facing force in retaliation do they try to plead mercy.They have brought retirbution upon themselves.Period. Some will try to save face and meekly crawl back to some sense fo normalcy. Others, will have their entire way of being destroyed in front of their eyes. In they end they face either physical or social death of their own making.
Where we go from here
Their ignorance of issues in the age of information will no longer be tolerated. The patience of sane Human beings has been exhausted by their own hand. The retaliation they face comes from their own supporters and those they have abused.
The Abused: have organized, collected evidence and made their way into positions of authority.They will use their positions to correct the prolonged injustices of our time.It is here that they will face a rightly deserved social death.
From their own: the sunk costs and delusional narcissim that shielded their egos is broken.Here, the mechanism that secured their positions are now to turned towards themselves.It is here they will face physical death.
Empathy and understanding is not owed.They were proud of their shittiness and now they will have to deal with the aftermath.
Meanwhile the rest of the species will move on without them.
That fact alone helps me sleep at night.
