My Journey through Tech

My Journey Through Tech: Junior IT Analyst Program Day 28

Continuing throgh the IT Analyst Bootcamp, we also participate in professional development. This is a godsend for my personality type and shows me just how lacking my linkedin profile truly was. Since making the adjustments from the weekly workshops we do, I have exponentially expanded my networks. Furthermore, through the group Civic Action, I now have access to Linkedin Learning. It also helps that I finally have a professional looking headshot, even though it shows off my bigass head.

Another area this program has helped me with is in crafting a proper looking resume. In the past I was using the same type of format for the last six years. Following their advice, I was able to finally highlight the technical skills I’ve been learning on my own.

In the exam preparation portion, we’ve just finished the networking concepts and troubleshooting modules. We’ve rotated our teams and I’m now with new members in cohort. I’m excited to finally meet some new people and can not wait to learn from them. With this new group, I’ve rotated the scrummaster position. While it was an interesting experience, I prefer being a listener  but I now know how to facilitate conversations better.

I’ve even finding myself tracking my creative pursuits using a gantt table for my art challenge to complete this month. I’m still feeling very confident aboout this program because the calibre of people I’m around is very encouraging. It feels fufilling to finally be able to talk with likeminded indviduals who have some experience with tech. For example when we were discussing how accessing mail servers using protocols, the people with prior coding knowledge brought up the computer science behind accessing the data on the servers.

Somebody bringing this knowledge up is exactly why I love learning tech, you always find people who know the “why and how” of what’s happening in our computers. This is the first time I actually feel like I belong somewhere career wise and I feel, happiness.
